Born and raised in Mobile, AL, home of the Mardi Gras, Shanquilla has always expressed a zeal for learning. Her passion started at a young age when she began writing poems and short stories for her famiy. As a wife, mother, Shanquilla hopes and professional school counselor, Shanquilla considers the pressure and shame children encounter for being a part of a certain culture. She was inspired to create a different picture and tell a better story. Shanquilla hopes to encourage the youth in all aspects of life through literature and mentorship.
